To determine the pourability of granular plastics by measuring the time of pouring and by observing the type of pouring.
Scope of delivery:
1 x filling funnel made of stainless steel with an internal opening angle of 40° ±5, Internal Ø large approx. 110 mm, internal Ø small 30 +0.1 mm, socket hole for connecting an earthing cable.
1 x bronze or brass union nut, knurled, for attaching one of the outlet nozzles to the funnel.
1 x base plate, with stand rod and holder for the funnel.
1 x set of outlet nozzles (diameter 10 mm, 15 mm, 25 mm) with an internal opening angle of 40° ±5, made of stainless steel.
Purpose and significance of the flowability test
The main purpose of this test is to assess the flowability of plastics in powder or granular form. This involves determining how long it takes for a specified quantity of the material to flow through a funnel.
The DIN EN ISO 6186 standard describes two methods, known as methods A and B. While method A provides information about the processability of the material, method B is primarily used to monitor the manufacturing process.
The testing device consists of a stable base plate, a stand rod and a holder for the funnel. There is a thread at the outlet of the funnel to which various outlet nozzles with diameters of 10, 15 or 25 mm can be attached using a union nut.
The flow time indicates how long it takes for a certain quantity or volume of material to flow through the hopper. This time is measured in seconds.
